Departure Dates

This tour can operate daily from April to November. The minimum booking required is 2 persons to operate. If you are a single person wishing to book (just you) then ask us and we will see if there is another date where there are more than 2 already booked.

The season for travel is limited by Shangri-la as this is at high altitude and becomes VERY cold during the main winter period. Most hotels and sights close for this period.

Avoid travel at the following periods: Be warned!!!

Chinese National Day Holidays 01 October to 07 October.

Chinese New Year Holidays 22 January to 28 January 2012 and any other New Years in the future.

Accommodation

We use a range of hotel styles and star ratings. For towns and cities where there are boutique hotels with a distinct Chinese style to them (and are affordable) we include these. We have included 3 such hotels at Dali (4 *), Lijian (4*)and Shangri-la (3*). We have also planned to use hotels in a good location and who do work with foreign travellers.

Surcharge if you want to change to the Songtsam resort in Shangri-la. US$145/room per night

Meals

Food in China is a national pastime. the variety is wide ranging with most provinces having their own cuisine style. Within unique provinces such as Yunnan you again get more diversity due to the differing ethnic groups. Breakfast is included each day except the arrival day. Most lunches are included. Due to sightseeing you will be on the move a lot and sometimes not near the central areas of towns. Our guides know safe local restaurants with above average samplings of the local cuisines. Four dinners are included and are on days where the choice near the hotel is very limited, or the arrival time being late due to the days travel. Other dinners are not included so that you may wander and experiment, or use the hotel facilities.
